Creative Writing
Session Two
Special Requirement: Writing sample
Faculty: HOLLY GOODMAN
The YMA Creative Writing program welcomes students of all abilities and writing backgrounds—all you need is an interest in using the written word to express your ideas. We provide a positive, rigorous, lively environment where you’ll learn the fundamentals of writing short stories, poems, and other narrative forms.
Led by an award-winning author, these classes give concentrated attention to each student’s natural ability. Our program fosters your imagination and builds the confidence necessary for success in all future writing projects, both personal and academic. Sharing your work with others can be daunting—that’s why we maintain a supportive environment in which you’ll feel safe giving and receiving feedback. As a Creative Writing student, you’ll present staged readings of your work during the camp session, including during Final Performance.
Prior to the start of YMA, Creative Writing students need to submit a one-page writing sample (poem, story, lines of dialogue, or essay) so our instructor can get a feel for your writing.
